Context

Negombo is a fishing village located 40 km north of Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka.

The population obtains water from private wells and the local distribution network. However the water contains heavy metals and remains undrinkable.

Residents face a proliferation of diseases such as diarrhea and skin diseases.

Presentation of the project in Negombo village

The project involves the installation of 1 Safe Water Cube fountain in the village of Negombo in Sri Lanka to provide 1000 inhabitants with access to safe drinking water.

This project focuses on the following three points: WATER, HEALTH and SOCIAL

  • The supply and installation of the Safe Water Cube fountain.
  • Provide training to the public on the importance of drinking water.
  • Create a social link between a Negombo school and a college located in the Nantes region.

Targets of the project:

  1. Increase by 1000 people the number of inhabitants with access to drinking water.
  2. Train the population in health and hygiene needs.
  3. Allow the cultural exchange between the children of schools of Negombo and Nantes on the theme of water and health.
